The 9th CRU World Optical Fibre & Cable Conference will be held in Jakarta from 24-26 October 2023, hosted by Yangtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (YOFC).

"The delay of China Mobile tender and a slowdown of fibre optic cable deployment by US carriers due to labour and inflation concerns have put pressure on global optical cable consumption and prices in 2023. However, we do not expect the near-term downturn will greatly alter our relatively bullish view on the mid-term optical cable demand outlook. CRU forecasts world optical cable demand will grow at around 4% CAGR between 2023 and 2027, exceeding 650M F-km by the end of 2027.
Various funding programs focusing on closing “digital divide” will drive elevated optical cable deployment in the US. Nationwide FTTH programs in the UK, Germany and Italy will support healthy optical cable demand growth in Europe. Emerging markets led by India will stand out once again, driven by the third phase of the BharatNet scheme for the construction of national optical fibre network. In addition to fixed broadband networks, data centre development and 5G standalone network rollouts are also key drivers for optical cable demand outlook."
