Head of Aluminium,  CRU
Paul Williams is the Head of Aluminium, and Research Manager responsible for the research programme of the team. Mr Williams joined CRU in 1986 and for many years ran the Aluminium Semis and Downstream areas specialising in flat rolled product markets and demand analysis. A regular speaker at major aluminium events, he also contributes to aluminium association publications including those of the Aluminum Association. Mr Williams has a MSc in Economics, London School of Economics. BA in Economics, University of Swansea.

Secretary General,  International Aluminium Institute (IAI)

Miles Prosser is the Secretary General of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), the only body that represents the aluminium industry at the global level.

With more than twenty years’ experience working on various industry policy issues, Miles brings in-depth knowledge on resource allocation, sustainability and climate change.

Miles joined the IAI from the Australian Aluminium Council where he served as Executive Director for more than 10 years.

He leads the IAI to promote the unique and valuable properties of aluminium in sustainable development. He holds an honours degree from the Australian National University and is a member of the Institute of Directors in London.

Managing Director,  Hindalco Industries

Mr. Satish Pai is Managing Director of Hindalco Industries. He took over as the CEO of Hindalco’s Aluminium Business in August 2013.Mr. Pai was the driving force behind three mega greenfield projects that established Hindalco as among the biggest producers of primary aluminium in Asia. He is also on the Board of Hindalco subsidiary - Novelis - the world’s largest aluminium rolling and recycling company.

In February 2014, he was appointed as the Deputy Managing Director of the company and was also entrusted with Hindalco’s copper business.

Mr. Pai became the Managing Director of Hindalco in August 2016, where he oversees the Indian metals business and guides Novelis’ operations globally.

Prior to joining the Aditya Birla Group, Mr. Pai worked with Schlumberger, based out of Paris. Over the course of his 28-year-career with the MNC, he held important positions and was responsible for Schlumberger operations globally.

Mr. Pai holds a patent in directional drilling. He received the ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’ by IIT Madras in 2017. He was conferred the Doctor of Letters Honoris Causa (D. Litt) by Ajeenkya DY Patil University in 2020.

Mr. Pai serves as Director on the boards of Aditya Birla Management Corporation Pvt. Ltd. and BP p.l.c. He is the Chairman of the International Aluminium Institute; Chairman, Non-Ferrous Metals at FICCI and the Indian Institute of Metals.

Chief Marketing Officer, Aluminium Business,  Vedanta
Alok Ranjan is a C Suite Leader with extensive experience in building business in highly dynamic and competitive environment. He has experience in multiple commodities like Zinc/Lead/Silver/ Gold/ Iron & Steel/Copper/Aluminium bearing raw materials as well as finished goods. He also has significant experience in leading large teams and using customer and Govt advocacy for consistently delivering results. 

Head of Sales & Marketing,  Rio Tinto
Tolga Egrilmezer is Head of Sales & Marketing at Rio Tinto and member of the Rio Tinto Aluminium Executive Committee as well as Commercial Senior Leadership where he is leading the global mine to market organisation in bauxite, alumina, aluminium & value added products, sales, marketing, trading & supply and technical & product development teams. Tolga is also a member of the IAI Board of Directors as well as Vice Chair of the Board (International Aluminium Institute) and member of the Board of Directors - Aluminum Association (United States). Previously, Tolga was Executive Vice President, Strategy and Business Development and President for Asia for Sapa Group. He has a Bachelor of Science in Political Science & Administration degree as well as Master of Business Admininstration – MBA.

Vice President Strategy & Business Development,  Maaden
Mr Alghamdi is Vice President, Strategy & Business Development since January 2021. He  was the Vice President, Technical of Ma’aden Aluminum Company prior to that. He first joined Ma’aden in June of 2009 as part of Maaden’s Aluminum project in Ras Al-Khair, where he became a Director Energy and Interface in 2015.Eng. Alghamdi is a board member of Maaden Aluminium Company and prior to that a Board Member of Ma’aden Phosphate Company and Ma’aden Rollin Mill Company. Before joining Ma’aden, Eng. Alghamdi worked for over 10 years at SABIC in different positions. He also worked at Shell Chemicals in Deer Park, Texas in the Major projects Organization for an olefins plant project. Eng. Alghamdi holds a bachelor's degree in Electrical and communication Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM).”

Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer,  Alcoa

Kelly Thomas joined Alcoa as Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer on February 14, 2022. In this role, Kelly is responsible for leading the commercial function including sales and trading, marketing, supply chain, commercial operations, and procurement. Kelly leads customer-focused commercial strategies across the bauxite, alumina, and aluminum markets, as well as Alcoa’s global procurement function.

Prior to joining Alcoa, Kelly was with Vista Metals Corp, as the Vice President, Finance. She joined Vista Metals in 2015 and was responsible for strategic planning, business development, finance, accounting, and metal risk management for the company. Prior to Vista Metals, Kelly served as Chief Operating Officer of Electronic Recyclers International (ERI), responsible for leading operations, procurement, and logistics and providing strategic direction and tactical oversight to eight operating plants.

Prior to ERI, Kelly worked in the aluminum industry for fifteen years. She was Senior Vice President and General Manager of Aleris North America Rolled Products division from 2012 to 2014, responsible for over 1,800 employees at seven U.S-based aluminum mills. Prior to that, Kelly was Vice President and Treasurer from 2011 to 2012 and started with Aleris in 2010 as Vice President of Global Risk Management in Zurich, Switzerland where she was responsible for managing and executing all aluminum and copper hedging on the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Kelly began her aluminum career at Reynolds Metals in 1999, later acquired by Alcoa Inc. Her career with Alcoa spanned over a decade, with various leadership roles including Vice President of Alcoa Materials Management where she led all commercial aspects of Alcoa’s European primary aluminum business. Prior to that she was Director of Metal Risk Management, and Marketing Manager for Alcoa Primary Products. Kelly began her career in 1991 with IBM.

Kelly graduated from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce with a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce, concentration in Finance.

CEO,  CBA

Luciano Alves is the CEO of CBA, a brazilian low-carbon aluminium producer, fully integrated in the value chain, from bauxite mining to primary products, downstream and recycling. ` With more than 20 years of experience in Finance, Strategic Planning and M&A, Luciano took over the position of CEO in May 23, to continue to implement CBA’s long term strategy, execute the portfolio of growth and modernization projects, consolidate the ESG 2030 Agenda and accelerate digital transformation and innovation initiatives.

Luciano joined Votorantim Group in 2005, worked for Votorantim Siderurgia (steel) and Votorantim Metais (Zinc, Copper and Nickel). He was CBA`s CFO from 2017 to 2023.   Luciano has a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic School at USP; a graduate degree in Business with emphasis in Finance from FGV; and Leadership Development Programs from Harvard Business School.

Chief Marketing Officer,  Aluminium Bahrain (ALBA)

Khalid A. Latif was appointed as Chief Marketing Officer at Aluminium Bahrain B.S.C.(Alba) in September 2015, in line with Alba’s strategy to develop Bahraini nationals from within the Company into key leadership positions. Khalid heads the following departments: Casthouse (Maintenance & Operations), Customer Service & Marketing Operations, Sales (all regions) and Alba Americas.

In his current role, Khalid leads the Company’s global marketing strategies to drive innovation across its business divisions, depending on the deep knowledge he has in both marketing and operations fields. He continuously increases Alba’s existing business and develops new markets to meet the Company’s growth targets.Prior to his current executive role, in 2012, he was promoted to Manager of Engineering and then to Alba’s Marketing Manager for Customer Services & Marketing Operations.Khalid joined Alba as an apprentice in 1989 and worked in various operational areas including Power Station, Reduction Lines and Carbon Plant. He rose through the ranks and was promoted from Supervisor to Engineer followed by Superintendent.

An MBA from the French Arabian Business School/ESSEC (Bahrain), he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc.) in Electrical Engineering from Gulf University in Bahrain as well as a High National Diploma in Mechatronics from Abertay University, Dundee, UK. He also possesses a completion certificate for the Executive Education Programme in Strategic Sales Management from University of Chicago, USA.

Research Manager,  CRU

Steve Williamson is CRU's Research Manager, Aluminum. Steve has joined as our lead North American Aluminum Analyst, and is based in Louisville, KY.

Steve has a distinguished career in the aluminum industry holding high profile roles at leading downstream aluminium companies including Chief Commercial Officer at Tri-Arrows Aluminum. Prior to joining Tri-Arrows (then ARCO), Steve held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing at Commonwealth Aluminum. More recently, Steve has worked as an independent consultant to the industry. Steve has also had successful spells in not-for-profit organizations, including President of Providence High School in Clarksville IN.

Head of Research,  Amalgamated Metal Trading

Dan is currently Head of Research at Amalgamated Metal Trading, a ring dealing member of the London Metal Exchange. He works closely with the company’s base metal traders and is responsible for research and price forecasting across the base metals complex.

Dan was previously Managing Director at Commodity Market Analytics Ltd. He set up the company in July 2019 to provide analysis, advice and analytical services to companies involved in the commodity markets.

Before this, he was Director of Commodity Services at Oxford Economics, where he headed up a team responsible for industry and price forecasts across extraction, metals and mining. He was also responsible for the company’s forecasts for oil and energy.

Previous to this, Dan was Head of Metals Research at Standard Chartered Bank and had global responsibility for the bank’s price forecasts and market analysis on base and precious metals. According to Bloomberg, he was one of the most accurate forecasters while at the bank. The metals research team was also ranked first in the AsiaRisk magazine.

He is regularly asked to talk on major TV networks about oil and commodities. He has been a key-note speaker at metals and mining conferences around the world. He has led training programs for both the LME and CFA society on commodity market analysis and forecasting.

He graduated from the University of Birmingham, with an Honours degree in economics and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Managing Director, Commodities Research,  BMO Capital Markets
Colin Hamilton is a Managing Director and Commodities Analyst for BMO Capital Markets.  Based in London, he leads BMO’s market intelligence and price forecasting efforts across base metals, bulk commodities, precious metals and battery raw materials.  With a background as a metallurgist, and a strong focus on China and global trade flows, and deep subject knowledge, Colin’s regular publications offer value-added insight on industry developments.  Previously he headed up Macquarie’s commodities research team, and before that spent time at CRU in London where he was responsible for steelmaking, iron ore and metallurgical coal cost services.  

Head of Economics,  CRU

Alex Tuckett is Head of Economics at CRU. He has over 15 years experience in economic analysis. Alex joined CRU in 2020 from PwC, where he was a Senior Manager in their economics advisory practice, leading analytical projects for a range of clients as well as contributing to their macroeconomic commentary.

He began his career in the UK Treasury, later moving to the Bank of England, and has provided macroeconomic modelling and analysis to policymakers in fiscal, monetary and financial policy. He has published his analysis through a number of working papers, journal articles and blog posts on topics including productivity, exchange rates and modelling credit flows. Alex has an MSc in Economics from University College London, and a BSc in Economics and Economic History from the London School of Economics.

Head of Battery Metals,  CRU
Sam joined CRU in 2023 and is Head of Battery Materials Analysis. He is a regular commentator on the e-mobility transition, with a speciality in batteries and powertrain technologies. Sam is an automotive expert with over a decade of industry experience at leading analysis firms and working on advanced engineering projects at automakers. Sam holds a master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Manchester. He is based at the London office.

Research Director,  Concord Resources Limited
Duncan Hobbs brings over 25 years of experience to his London-based role as director of market research for all non-ferrous metals and related materials, including copper, traded by Concord Resources Ltd. Previously he managed a team of four senior staff responsible for non-ferrous metals and bulk commodities market research at Noble Group, based in Singapore. Underlying these positions with physical traders, Duncan’s previous experience includes commodities market research and business development roles in financial services with Macquarie Bank; mining and metal production with Nyrstar; engineering services with Hatch; and independent research with CRU, where he was a member of the steel team. He began his career in dry bulk shipping market research with Drewry in London.

Lead Analyst, Aluminium, Primary & Recycled Metal,  CRU
Ross re-joined CRU in August 2020 and was subsequently promoted to Lead Analyst, Aluminium, Primary and Recycled Metal. Between 2004 and 2009 he worked for CRU, initially joining as a research analyst for the aluminium team and latterly becoming principal price risk advisor for the price risk management team. Subsequently, he worked for Capital Economics, Thomson Reuters and GFMS in analytical roles covering a variety of metals markets as well as presenting to industry gatherings. Ross will be based in our London office and holds a Masters in Economics from Heriot-Watt University.

Climate Change and Decarbonisation Director,  Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI)

Chris Bayliss joined ASI in May 2021 as Director of Standards, leading the ongoing development and implementation of ASI Standards to promote the responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium.

Chris has two decades of experience in the sustainability of the aluminium sector.  In various roles at the International Aluminium Institute, he led the development and implementation of science based approaches to improving occupational health and well-being, reducing sector wide greenhouse gas emissions and maximising the enabling potential of aluminium products in sustainable socio-economic systems.

Manager – Environment, Statistics & Standards,  International Aluminium Institute
Lin is responsible for statistical analysis and environmental impact information. She manages the Life Cycle Impact and Life Cycle Assessment data collection and analysis. Her work also focusses on sustainable development of the industry. Lin is a key liaison with our members and industry collaborators who are based in China.

Research Director,  CRU

Lavan is CRU's Research Director. He and his team for responsible for CRU's product development, data governance, and driving consistency and quality in models and methodologies.

Lavan is an expert in applying agile methods to product development and identifying and targeting customer needs in CRU's data service. As a leader, his focus is on workshops, internal alignment, governance and collaboration. Lavan has spent at least 20 years of experience of models, data, and interpretation at the highest level, with first-hand experience of many applied economic techniques and statistics. 

He joined CRU in March 2014 from the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies where he was a Senior Research Fellow on oil, macroeconomics and finance. Prior to that, he worked for 16 years at the Bank of England, in a variety of roles, but specializing in econometrics, modelling and forecasting. Lavan has edited or co-edited four books on monetary policy and the transmission mechanism of interest rates, one of which was awarded central banking book of the year and is widely published in leading journals, including on commodity markets. 

Lavan has a PhD from the European University Institute, a Masters from Warwick and a BA from Trinity College Cambridge. He speaks English and Spanish fluently.

Manager,  RMI

Wenjuan is a Senior Associate with RMI’s Climate Intelligence Program. Her work supports the development and implementation of carbon accounting frameworks for heavy industries (such as aluminum) to enable the development of a differentiated commodities market for products with low embodied emissions.

Prior to joining RMI, Wenjuan received her Ph.D. in sustainability from Arizona State University, where she studied the social and environmental externalities of extracting critical minerals (such as lithium and nickel) for the low-carbon economy. Throughout her Ph.D., Wenjuan strongly advocated for sustainable governance of critical minerals by actively engaging with diverse stakeholders such as communities, industrial players, and scholars.

Alice is the Head of Corporate Sustainability at the London Metal Exchange (LME). Alice’s role involves the creation and execution of sustainability-related strategy at the LME. This includes leading the work on the LME’s net-zero strategy and LMEpassport, a digitals credentials register which LME-listed metal producers to publicly share environmental, social and governance (ESG) certifications and metrics. Alice joined the LME in 2019, having previously worked at Morgan Stanley.

Senior Technical Specialist, Corporate Sustainability,  Fauna & Flora

Hafren joined Fauna & Flora in September 2022. She supports multi-national companies including mining, biofuels and finance sector partners to contribute towards a Nature Positive future. This includes developing common biodiversity accounting, monitoring and reporting frameworks, piloting the Taskforce and Nature-Related Financial Disclosures and supporting internal capacity-building. Previously she specialised in mining sector sustainability standards, biodiversity and responsible sourcing, and has worked in community development in Cameroon and in UK-based charities.

Director of Sustainable Investment and Legal,  Aluminium Stewardship Initiative
Andrew joined ASI in October 2022 and is currently based in Melbourne. As Director of Sustainable Investment and Legal, he is responsible for driving ASI’s engagement with the sustainable finance and investment sector, including working on frameworks and assessment of sustainable financing of aluminium investments and capital raising. Andrew also acts as ASI’s internal legal counsel and joint Company Secretary. Prior to joining ASI, Andrew was Group Executive Strategy and Business Development at Alumina Limited, where he gained 14 years’ aluminium industry experience. This included strategy, capital investment, M&A and business development activities and market analysis. Prior to Alumina, he had around 20 years’ experience at Sibelco and WMC in resource company legal, commercial and EHS roles. Andrew holds Bachelors of Laws and Arts from Monash University and a Graduate Diploma of Applied Corporate Governance from the Governance Institute of Australia

Senior Associate, Climate-Aligned Finance,  RMI
Tom is a senior associate with RMI’s Center for Climate-Aligned Finance. His work focuses on enabling financial institutions that lend to “hard-to-abate” sectors to align their investment decisions to the goals of the Paris Agreement. Before joining RMI, Tom worked across several industries in New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He has experience with consulting in the dairy industry, research into the production of graphene, and manufacture of catalytic converters. Tom more recently completed an MPhil in Sustainable Development where his research focused on energy and emissions in New Zealand, and the role of demand reduction in achieving national emissions targets. Katrine Barø Talgø is VP, Head of Group Treasury & Tax at Norsk Hydro, a leading aluminium and renewable energy company committed to a sustainable future. Katrine has worked for Hydro since 2011, where she has held various positions, including Head of Group Tax and Legal Counsel. Her professional background is as a lawyer. She worked for Deloitte Law firm in Norway for several years before joining Norsk Hydro. Katrine also holds other directorships, and is inter alia the chairman of the board in Norsk Hydro’s Pension Fund and a board member of Industriforsikring AS (Hydro’s captive) and Hydro Aluminium AS.

William joined Citi over 10 year ago. He now runs the Global M&M Corporate Banking team out of London after running the European business. William has 25 years of banking experience focused on Corporate Finance to Natural Resources companies across Capital Structuring Advisory, Acquisition financing, Bonds, Loans transactions in both Developed and Emerging Markets William has been providing capital structuring advice to the worlds largest Metals and Mining companies for several decades and can offer perspectives on optimal capital structures as well as ESG strategies

Director, Sustainable Finance,  International Capital Market Association (ICMA)
Simone Utermarck is a Director, Sustainable Finance at the International Capital Market Association (ICMA) based in London. She is part of the Secretariat that supports the Principles, Secretary to the Advisory Council and the Global Sustainable Finance Council (GSFC). Simone is also part of the joint Secretariat for the ESG Data and Ratings Working Group that has been mandated by the FCA to develop a voluntary Code of Conduct. Simone’s other roles include(d) being a member of the EU Platform on Sustainable Finance, the UK Stakeholder Discussion Forum and the ASEAN Joint Sustainable Finance Working Group Industry Advisory Panel. She is a trained banker with extensive international experience having lived and worked in Europe, the United States, Asia and the GCC. Her previous roles were with Thomson Reuters, S&P Global Ratings, Bloomberg, PwC, Ernst & Young, DaimlerChrysler Global Capital Services. Simone holds a double degree in International Business from Dublin City University (DCU), Ireland and the ESB Business School, Reutlingen Germany. She also completed the International Certificate in Investor Relations and the CFA Level 1.

Barry heads the LME’s Buy-Side and financial client coverage. He has extensive experience in capital markets, OTC and Exchange Traded Derivatives, commodities and fintech, having previously served in senior leadership and advisory positions with UBS, TP ICAP and Trust Payments. Barry holds an Executive MBA from Cass Business School and is a graduate of King's College London.

Vice President DACH & Head of Sales Extrusion Europe,  Norsk Hydro ASA
After finishing a bachelor as a media designer in Eupen (Belgium) and Cologne I started very early my first company in 2001 with 21 years. In 2004 I had my first contact to a the aluminium industry as a junior sales representative for Alcoa Europe. After several joint ventures between Alcoa, Sapa and Hydro and different management positions my actual role since 2018 is Vice President D-A-CH & Head of commercial Extrusion Europe (9.000 FTE’s, 2,5 Billion € turnover). I serve for Norsk Hydro ASA additionally as an executive manager in several management boards and boards of director in Austria, The Netherlands, Belgium and as a director of the national federation of employers in Eastbelgium. I invest a lot of time and efforts in high level education, just one example is my participation in the Insead TGM Course in 2015 – 2016 in France, US and Singapore. Life long learning and giving access to others to important business inside is very important to me. One of the biggest milestones in my career was to be the first aluminium extrusion company in the world certified with the ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative) standard performance certificate 2018 in the Netherlands. Since then I am recognized as a specialist and spearhead to drive our sustainability agenda, and to marry sustainability and sales, which is a wonderful and powerful connection.

Global Market Executive – Metals,  TotalEnergies
Christian KOULIC started his career at TotalEnergies in 2003 and held a variety of roles within Petrochemicals and Refining (corporate strategy, business development, planning, sustainable development). He was a member of the managing committee of the Polymers Europe & Orient Division, in charge of Packaging before being appointed Global Market Executive within the division OneB2B Solutions supporting the Metals industry to decarbonize. Christian is a graduate from the University of Liège (Belgium) and the University of Toronto (Canada) and holds a PhD in Polymer Science

Director, Industry Monitoring and Analysis for Trade Agreements Policy & Negotiations, International Trade Administration,  U.S. Department of Commerce
 Julie Al-Saadawi has 2 decades of experience with International Trade Administration at the U.S. Commerce Department.  She and her team follow the global aluminum and steel industries and support related policy work.  She developed the public U.S. import monitoring systems for steel and aluminum and led the effort to add information about which country the original metal inputs used in these imports were sourced.   Julie was a consultant prior to joining the government. 

Managing Director,  PSI Metals GmbH

Thomas Quinet is Managing Director of PSI Metals GmbH and PSI Metals Non Ferrous GmbH. He became Managing Director of PSI Metals in 2017 after almost two decades of helping leading metals producers across the globe to define their manufacturing transformation roadmap and successfully implement their digital Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), logistics, quality management projects. He is also a member of the Strategy Committee, the highest executive body of PSI Metals.  

After joining AIS (now PSI Metals) in 2001 as an Application Consultant, Thomas was immediately promoted to Sales Executive where his experience was sought after to help large and medium scale metals producers execute their Advanced Planning and Scheduling projects. Having established his expertise, Thomas took on higher responsibilities, becoming the Commercial Sales Director in 2004, working with customers across five continents to build a strong business case and increase their business growth. As Director of Non Ferrous, Flat & Long (NFL), he was actively part of a team that championed numerous digitalization, MES and SCM optimization projects for leading metals producers in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.  

2014 saw Thomas become the Chief Financial Officer of PSI Metals. In 2017, he was appointed Managing Director of PSI Metals. In addition to overseeing the finances of PSI, he was responsible for the product development at a time the company was laying the foundation of the future architecture. The product is successfully designed to serve the needs of metals producers in the areas of MES, SCM and logistics.  

In 2020, Thomas continued in his role as Managing Director of PSI metals, with a focus on sales and marketing and further offering senior executives support to customers on a global scale.  

Thomas has a degree in Civil Engineering and an Executive MBA.

Jerome Lucaes, is the CEO of FAST FORWARD ZERO. 

FFZero advises business leaders, investors and funds to transform to net zero carbon, circular and fair models

At Rio Tinto he initiated the first low carbon partnership with key customers like Apple. For EN+ and RUSAL, he created the first low carbon aluminium brand, ALLOW, (which reached 3 Bn of $ sales within 4 years), and he prepared the first corporate commitment to net zero carbon (in Jan 2020), at that time it was the first commitment across the mining and metal sector.

Miles Prosser is the Secretary General of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), the only body that represents the aluminium industry at the global level.

With more than twenty years’ experience working on various industry policy issues, Miles brings in-depth knowledge on resource allocation, sustainability and climate change.

Miles joined the IAI from the Australian Aluminium Council where he served as Executive Director for more than 10 years.

He leads the IAI to promote the unique and valuable properties of aluminium in sustainable development. He holds an honours degree from the Australian National University and is a member of the Institute of Directors in London.

Mark worked for Jaguar most of his career since graduating in 1983. Starting in Body Engineering in 1987, Mark became Sports car BIW Manager in 1990 & in 1998 took responsibility for all Jaguar BIW Programs. In 2002, he also took responsibility for Land Rover BIW.

In 2004, Mark was promoted to Chief Technical Specialist, for Body Engineering Strategy & Research projects, including Light Weight Vehicle development.

In 2012, he took responsibility for the Body Complete Business Unit for JLR, responsible for the Design & development of JLR Body Structures, Closures, Roof Systems & related mechanisms.

Mark was awarded a Doctor of Engineering by Brunel University in 2011, for his work on light weight structures. Examples include the 2002 XJ, 2006 XK, 2010 XJ & 2012 Range Rover & F-type LWVs.

Mark retired from JLR in 2016 due to a health issue, but before retiring, completed development of JLR’s first BEV LWV body, the Jaguar I Pace, as well as launching the 3rd D7u derivative, Land Rover Discovery 5 & 4th D7a derivative, Range Rover Velar.Mark is working part time with the aluminium industry, to promote wider use of aluminium in the Automotive Industry.

Raphael Thevenin has a long experience in the aluminum industry. Raphael earned a marketing and economics degree in France. He started his professional career in Australia, UK and Belgium in the automotive industry. In 2001, he joined Pechiney as marketing manager. Then he moved to Sales role in Alcan. Following the creation of Constellium, Raphael was given the responsibility for the cansheet sales team covering Europe and Middle East markets. In 2015, following the acquisition of Wise Alloys in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Raphael moved to Baltimore, to restructure the global cansheet sales organization. In summer 2022, he moved back to Europe as VP strategy and sustainability for the automotive and packaging business. He is based in Zurich, Switzerland. Raphael is married and has 3 children who are studying in France and Switzerland. He likes flying airplanes in his free time and is passionate for all water sports such as kitesurfing and sailing

Jinny joined ICBC Standard Bank in early 2016 as Chief China Economist, and leads the China markets strategy and research team. Her focus is to deliver China macroeconomic and market insights to internal and external stakeholders. Her team launched the Belt and Road Economic Indices, which offers unique insight into China’s increasing connectivity with emerging economies. She also helps stakeholders to understand more about China’s Interbank Bond Market (CIBM), as it opens further to foreign investor access.

Prior to joining ICBCS, Jinny was a London-based Senior Economist at Standard Chartered Bank. She covered key China-Europe macro topics with a focus on Renminbi internationalisation. Her previous economist roles include covering China based in Shanghai, Europe, and supporting the Chief Economist.Heading up the European RMB Solutions team, Jinny chaired the Education and Marketing stream of the City of London’s Renminbi initiative. Widely recognised as a China and Renminbi expert in London, she makes frequent appearances in media and at high-level conferences.Jinny studied Economics (BA Hons) at the University of Durham.Later in her career, she gained her Masters of Development Studies (MSc.) from the London School of Economics.

Fiona Solomon is the Chief Executive Officer of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI), which she joined in March 2015 with the responsibility for leading the development and implementation of ASI’s strategy and operations.

Her career has specialised in building new and innovative initiatives in mineral supply chains over more than twenty years. She was previously Director – Standards Development at the Responsible Jewellery Council from 2007 to 2015, where she developed a certification program for gold, diamonds and platinum group metals which has been adopted by more than 1000 companies across the supply chain from mine to retail. She has served as a Board Member of the ISEAL Alliance and a founding member of the OECD’s Multi-Stakeholder Steering Group for responsible mineral supply chains.

From 1997, Fiona worked for ten years at Australia’s CSIRO, leading research into mining and sustainability, and was also seconded to WWF to manage a multi-stakeholder project on the feasibility of mine-site certification. She has a Bachelors degree (Hons 1) in mechanical engineering and a PhD in philosophy of technology, both from the University of Queensland, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

Rosa M. García Piñeiro is Alcoa Sustainability Vice-president and President of Alcoa Foundation since November 2016. Previously, she served as Global Director of Sustainability since September 2015.

Rosa joined Alcoa in 1999 to work as an Environmental Engineer for the San Ciprian Smelter and Refinery in Spain. In 2001, she moved to the Corporate EHS Audit Department, working with the North American and European Audit Teams first in Pittsburgh and then in Madrid. In 2003, she moved back to San Ciprian to take over the Environmental Department as Environmental Manager for the Smelter and the Refinery.

In 2005 Rosa moved into a European position as Director Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) for the Primary Products business, where she stayed for three years, taking in 2008 the responsibility for EHS and Sustainability for the region.

Rosa expanded her role in 2012, when she was appointed Director of Government Affairs in addition to her role in Sustainability. In her new function she had responsibility for coordinating and overseeing government interactions in the different countries where Alcoa has interests across Europe.

In March 2014 Rosa was named President of Alcoa Spain, where her main target was to obtain an energy framework favorable for the energy intensive industry at national level.

Rosa serves in the Board of Directors of the Alcoa Foundation since 2012 and in the Advisory Board of the School of Mining Engineers of Madrid since 2014. From March 2014 to September 2015 Rosa was President of the Board of Alcoa Inversiones España, the holding group financing Alcoa operations in Europe, Middle East and Brazil. Ken Ash is a Visiting Fellow at the Institute for International Trade, University of Adelaide, and Director of Ash Global Insights, offering advice to businesses and to governments on international trade and agricultural policies, with a focus on subsidy reform, supply chains, and global food systems.

Ken was Director of Trade and Agriculture at the OECD between 2008 and 2020, having served as Deputy Director since 1999. Ken led OECD efforts to provide evidence-based advice to governments, including in G7 and G20 groupings, with the aim of improving the domestic and international performance of trade, food, agriculture, and fisheries policies. During this period OECD expanded its annual agriculture policy monitoring and evaluation to 54 countries and 75% of global value-added, created internationally comparable policy data on trade facilitation, services trade, industrial subsidies, cross-border data flows, and export restrictions, and integrated trade and sectoral analysis into comprehensive structural policy advice to support economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable outcomes.

Prior to joining the OECD Ken had extensive experience in the Government of Canada. As Director General, Economic and Policy Analysis (1995-99) he provided strategic advice on agriculture and trade policies and on government-wide institutional reform. He holds both B. Comm and MBA degrees.

Zaid is a principal analyst covering primary and secondary aluminium, value-added products, aluminium raw materials, and carbon products in North America and worldwide.

Prior to joining the aluminium analysis team, Zaid spent six years with CRU’s consulting division as head of aluminium consulting. Before CRU, he worked for several years at Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) in the UAE where he led the market research unit and held various positions within marketing and sales, corporate strategy, and finance. He previously worked in London for a number of commodity-focused firms as an analyst, including Thomson Reuters and Diapason Commodities Management, where he managed the precious and base metals research unit. He began his commodities research career in 2002 as an economist with AUPEC, an oil and gas consultancy firm.   Zaid holds an MA in Economic Science from the University of Aberdeen and an MSc in Economics from the University of Amsterdam. As president and CEO of the Aluminum Association, Charles “Chuck” Johnson serves as the chief advocate for the full aluminum value chain in the United States, which supports hundreds of thousands of American workers. The association’s 120+ members make 70 percent of the aluminum and aluminum products shipped in North America. 

Prior to joining the association in 2022, Charles served as the President of the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA), the trade organization for personal protective equipment and technologies. During his tenure, he modernized ISEA’s operations and spearheaded the passage of key liability legislation for safety equipment manufacturers. Notably, Charles led the ISEA as the industry was at the forefront of the COVID-19 pandemic response.

He previously served as the vice president of policy for the Aluminum Association, acting as strategic advisor to the industry and advancing the aluminum industry’s interests in Washington D.C. and abroad. His responsibilities included federal affairs, environmental regulation, occupational health and safety, community and consumer protection, international regulation and sustainability.

Michael completed an Advanced Metallic Systems CDT (Centre for Doctoral Training) course at the University of Manchester in September 2018. His PhD project was based around the effect of increased impurity elements on the precipitation behaviour of dispersoids in Al-Mg-Si alloys. As part of the CDT programme, he was awarded a postgraduate diploma in personal and professional skills.

Andrew also acts as ASI’s internal legal counsel and joint Company Secretary. Prior to joining ASI, Andrew was Group Executive Strategy and Business Development at Alumina Limited, where he gained 14 years’ aluminium industry experience. This included strategy, capital investment, M&A and business development activities and market analysis. Klaudia Michalska joined Aluminium Stewardship Initiative as an Impacts Analyst in 2021. Previously, she worked at Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and WWF. She has a master’s degree in Earth Sciences from the University of Amsterdam and a bachelor's degree in Geography from the University of Warsaw. 

Climate Intelligence Programme Manager,  RMI

Hao is a manager with RMI’s Climate Intelligence Program, which leverages data and innovative technology to support the decarbonization of industrial supply chains. She focuses on the market activation efforts of the Horizon Zero project, collaborating with a global network of NGOs, academics, policymakers, financial institutions, and businesses to scale up carbon accounting practices and enable emissions reductions in some of the highest emitting industrial sectors.

Before joining RMI, Hao was a climate and energy efficiency specialist with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), where she worked with developing countries to help bring in energy-efficient and climate-friendly products to their markets. She contributed to the development of comprehensive policy roadmaps and tools, capacity building, and communication and engagement activities. She has served as a Board Member of the ISEAL Alliance and a founding member of the OECD’s Multi-Stakeholder Steering Group for responsible mineral supply chains.

From 1997, Fiona worked for ten years at Australia’s CSIRO, leading research into mining and sustainability, and was also seconded to WWF to manage a multi-stakeholder project on the feasibility of mine-site certification. She has a Bachelors degree (Hons 1) in mechanical engineering and a PhD in philosophy of technology, both from the University of Queensland, and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

Chief of Staff and Chief Sustainability Officer,  LME
Georgina is the Chief of Staff and Chief Sustainability Officer for the LME Group, incorporating the LME and LME Clear, where she plays a central role in all aspects of the LME's operations and strategic initiatives. She is also responsible for leading the LME’s work on sustainability, incorporating LME responsible sourcing – delivering an industry-wide programme in partnership with the OECD to ensure globally accepted standards for the sourcing of metals are embedded for production of LME-listed metals. Georgina has worked at the LME since September 2012, initially in research and analytics. She began her career at Euromoney Institutional Investor and has a doctorate in psychology.

Membership Director ,  Aluminium Stewardship Initiative

Chinelo is based in London and joined ASI in September 2021. As the Membership Director, she is responsible for leading membership growth, retention and general engagement strategies, and working with the ASI team on the enabling resources to support achievement of ASI’s broader strategies.

With over 18 years’ experience in the corporate membership sector, she has a flair for managing relationships. Her career has specialised in developing and embedding pragmatic customer focussed approaches to keep members at the heart of decision making. She was most recently Director, Membership Services at the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), where she developed engagement strategies including key account management processes and procedures which culminated in a 93% retention rate and an increased uptake in new member certifications. 

Director of Assurance,  Aluminium Stewardship Initiative

Cameron is based in Canberra, Australia and joined ASI in January 2020 as Director of Assurance, with leadership responsibility for ASI’s assurance systems including auditor accreditation, oversight processes, and ASI Certification to support assurance quality and integrity.

He is an environmental scientist with 20 years’ experience in HSEC performance standards, management systems, auditing and assurance, risk assessments, strategic reviews, and non-financial reporting. He also has extensive on-the-ground experience with biodiversity action planning, land and rehabilitation management and closure planning, including direct experience working in the aluminium value chain with bauxite mining, alumina refining and aluminium smelting operations. Previous to ASI, Cameron ran his own sustainability management consultancy, and worked with Rio Tinto for seven years as a senior environmental advisor working as both a corporate and business unit advisory and support role. 

Responsible Sourcing Manager,  LME

Nicole Hanson is a sustainability professional working as the Responsible Sourcing Manager for the LME Group. She works with LME-listed metal producers to embed globally accepted sustainability standards into their supply chains. In addition, she is developing the future responsible sourcing strategy at the Exchange.

Nicole studied at the Colorado School of Mines as a mechanical and humanitarian engineer, previously working in sustainable development at the International Copper Association.

Learning Manager,  Aluminium Stewardship Initiative

Camille joined ASI in January 2020 and is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands. She is responsible for managing ASI’s learning and capacity building program. As Learning Manager, she is responsible for managing educationAL, ASI's learning program for members, auditors, registered specialists and stakeholders.

Originally from France, she holds a Master in Business Management and a Master of Science in Creative Business and Social Innovation. Before joining ASI, she has experience working in local and international organizations on environment protection and sustainable development issues (including in the energy, forestry and tourism fields). She is a French native speaker and is fluent in English.
