The situation regarding the Omicron variant of Covid-19 continues to be fast moving. CRU will continue to monitor all updates from the German and EU authorities as they pertain to the conference. As of 15 January 2022, additional requirements have been imposed by the German Government.

All attendees to provide proof of vaccination or recovery (proof of recovery must be within 90 days of a positive PCR test for unvaccinated and within 180 days for previously vaccinated attendees). However attendees who are fully vaccinated (or recovered) will no longer be required to produce a negative test on a daily basis.

All delegates irrespective of testing status will be required to wear a FFP2 mask at all times in the venue. Attendees are responsible for procuring their own FFP2 masks.

We will continue to update this page if there are any further developments.

Last updated 6 January 2022

As of 4 January 2022, the entry requirements to Germany require all travelers to provide proof of a negative test or proof of vaccination or recovery when entering the country. In addition, when entering the Federal Republic of  Germany following a stay in a high-risk area or area of variants of concern outside of Germany, a special obligation to register, quarantine and furnish proof has to be observed. The list of high risk areas can be found here

The primary requirement if you are entering Germany from a high-risk area, is that in addition to providing proof of vaccination or recovery, you will also need to fill in a digital registration on entry at https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de and carry the confirmation with you when entering the country. Please note, that when traveling from a high risk area, no quarantine is required if you are fully vaccinated or can provide proof of recovery provided this proof is transmitted via the entry portal before entering the country.

Full vaccination or recovery status continues to be a requirement of entry to the conference and this will be strictly enforced. The wearing of face coverings will also be mandatory in the venue.

CRU will endeavor to keep this page updated with any new or changed Covid-19 requirements but we do encourage delegates to check with their own travel advisors.

CRU Events has run several live-events as we emerge from the pandemic. Here are some recent experiences from our previous live events in relation to Covid-19 protocols:

SMU Steel Summit, Atlanta, GA, August 2021
In the post-conference survey, 93% of respondents said they felt comfortable or very comfortable with the SMU / CRU protocols put in place for their safety. Here's what we did:

To indicate personal preferences for levels of face-to-face interaction, we provided colored wrist bands for all attendees to wear. The wearing of facemasks when inside the venue was encouraged, as per the recommendations of the CDC, the State of Atlanta and the venue. Hand sanitizer stations were available throughout the venue space for the use of all attendees. Seats in the auditorium were spaced out, and numbers limited to ensure distancing. Lunches were served by staff, and screens placed to keep the food as hygienic as possible.

"SMU and CRU team did a great job to organize a great event amidst of very challenging times with a health pandemic still ongoing - as in previous events the content is very relevant to the times and great speakers"
