Welcome to SMU Steel Training - our portfolio of training courses for the Steel community

Steel Market Update has been running educational workshops since 2011, when the SMU Steel 101: Introduction to Steelmaking & Market Fundamentals course was first launched. Having now passed the 1000+ attendees mark, the Steel 101 series is now recognized as the leading steel training course, led by experienced instructors who are well known in the industry.

We understand the need for ongoing training and career development across the steel industry, and we have a trusted track record of helping businesses to empower their employees, through our workshops to better understand steel production, marketing and trading dynamics.

Our knowledge of the steel industry, combined with our trusted market relationships, enable us to deliver valuable training programmes driven by topical themes and addressed by industry thought-leaders. As part of our continued mission, To Inform, To Educate and To Motivate, we have introduced several new hedging workshops tailored to empower people working across the steel supply chain to help drive their businesses forward.

We have been successfully running workshops virtually since 2020, and are now delighted to be returning to live training courses enabling the community to gather in person once again. Virtual courses will continue to be offered alongside the live events, giving participations the choice to learn in a live environment and or to watch the sessions and Q&A's live-streamed, as well as catching up on-demand.
