The world’s carbon neutral future will be built with steel. It is a critical component in solutions such as wind power turbines, solar panels, electric vehicles and green buildings. At the same time, steel production is estimated to account for 8% of the world’s carbon emissions. Recognised as a key “hard to abate” industry, the world is looking to the global steel value chain for rapid and innovative leadership in the transformation to a decarbonised industry.
As the leading global independent authority across the steel value chain, CRU is proud to present the 2nd Steel Decarbonisation Strategies Virtual Conference, being held virtually 26-28 April, 2022. This unique, strategic event will bring together policymakers, financiers, consumers, and leaders from across the supply chain and around the world. The conference will define the green steel challenge, discuss the decisions that need to be made across the sector, examine available solutions that currently exist, and the policy and finance support required to make them possible.
The inaugural Steel Decarbonisation Strategies conference in 2021 was proof of this sector’s commitment to identify and implement viable strategies. Attracting more than 360 senior industry executives and key stakeholders from the policy, investment and sustainability communities, it had a truly international attendance from across the full supply chain. Keynote presentations from true industry leaders and a series of lively panel discussions allowed for effective networking and knowledge exchange.
By working together with CRU’s inhouse industry experts, the CRU Sustainability business unit and our colleagues at Steel Market Update, we are committed to continue to expand and grow this important event series that has already become established as the premier meeting place for executives that are keen to play their part in building the sustainable steel industry the world needs to achieve its carbon neutral future.
