Ridgway Machines

Ridgway Machines, the world leader in innovative taping machinery for cable and conductors, manufacture a range of high-performance machines at their factory in Leicester, UK.   Ridgway’s high speed taping machinery has been designed and manufactured for a wide variety of applications designed to meet its customer’s specific requirements. They include multi-purpose taping heads that will apply a variety of materials such as Kapton®, Glass & Varnish, Daglas, Mica and PTFE to round or flat conductors.   Ridgway have designed and manufactured a wide range of machines over the years, with taped applications ranging from 0.5mm (0.019”) – 400mm (15.7”) in diameter.   Whilst specialising in the manufacture of taping / insulating machinery, Ridgway also design and manufacture a range of other cable and conductor equipment that can be installed into existing lines to improve and enhance the end products.

This includes:

 • Pay-off and Take-up Drum Stands that vary from simple pressure brakes through to torque and dancer control systems. Manual, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical lift systems are available to suit the application.

 • Wire and Cable Encapsulation Pay-off that is designed to pay-off material for the encapsulation of electrical cables and wires. • Accumulators that enable a change of drum without the need to stop production.

• Straighten and Clean units designed to straighten and brush clean cables and conductors prior to taping.

• Pull through Caterpillars designed to pull conductors or cables at a controlled speed without damaging the product covering.

• Camera System that captures each individual wrap frame by frame, constantly adjusting the taping head to ensure accurate tape registration between layers and compliance with ever demanding customer specifications.

This type of machinery can be used for the manufacture of wires and cables in various industries such as Aircraft, Aerospace, Satellite System, Military, Electrical, Power Generation and Superconductor applications.
