WORKSHOP 1 – STEAM AND HEATING CONSIDERATIONS IN SULFUR PLANTS
05/19/2025
09:00 - 12:30
Track 1,
Join CSI Ametek for an engaging 4-hour
workshop led by experienced industry professionals, designed to deepen participants’
understanding of steam heating systems and process heating technologies.
The session will begin with an introduction
to steam heating theory, followed by a detailed look at steam tracing
technologies and the thermal requirements for various applications, including
liquid sulfur, tail gas, sour water acid gas, sulfur vapor sweep air, and
sulfur storage tanks/vessels.
The instructors will also cover key steam
system topics such as steam distribution (supply headers), steam user
supply/return, condensate return, and the theory behind steam trap operation,
along with insights into steam load estimation.
To conclude, instructors will share real-world “war stories” involving
undetected corrosion and the challenges that arise during upset conditions,
such as run-down plugging, quenching, process mixing, re-boiling, cold spots
and supports, and circuitry mistakes. This workshop is ideal for SRU
professionals seeking to expand their knowledge and gain practical insights
from an industry expert.
